Chambers Ireland 100-year anniversary

 

 

 

 

Chambers Ireland celebrates milestone 100! 

Chambers Ireland and its network of local chambers from across Ireland gathered at St Patrick’s Hall, Dublin Castle to celebrate Chambers Ireland 100th anniversary on Thursday March 02.  Guest speakers included, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD, President Mary Robinson and EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness.

Amongst the Chambers present was Ennis Chamber, represented by Vice President Sheila Lynch of Cashin Clancy Solicitors,  Maeve McHugh, of Western Herd Brewing and Ennis Chamber CEO, Margaret O’Brien.

Background to foundation of Chambers Ireland

On March 01, 1923, representatives of Chambers of Commerce assembled in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin for a morning meeting to discuss the establishment of an Association including all chambers.

The Association of the Chamber of Commerce of the Irish Free State, as it was named initially, was them formed on March 02, 1923.
