St. Flannan’s College students seek support to present award-winning project at the International Space Development Conference 2026 in McLean, Virginia

St. Flannan’s College student Space Settlement Design Team are seeking support from local businesses, to present their outstanding award-winning project ‘Fómhar’,  at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) 2026 in McLean, Virginia, from 4 to 7 June 2026.

The Fómhar Project took second place in the prestigious NASA Ames / National Space Society Gerard K. O’Neill Space Settlement Design Contest international competition which attracted more than 4,900 entries, from over 29,000 students, representing 31 countries. As a result of their success, four St. Flannan’s College students have been invited to present their project at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) 2026 in McLean, Virginia.

This is a remarkable achievement for the students, for the school, and for Ennis. It gives these young people an opportunity to represent their community and Ireland on an international stage, while showcasing the talent, ambition and innovation that exist here in Clare.

To help make this possible, Ennis Chamber is appealing for support for the student’s GoFundMe campaign, which will assist with travel, accommodation and conference-related costs.
