The health and wellbeing of staff is receiving increased attention in businesses around the country. To find out more Ennis Chamber and Chambers Ireland are conducting research to identify how engaged businesses in Ennis/Clare are, in Health & Wellbeing of employees. The research will be used to contribute to a new national strategy in the area, on how to engage businesses further in this area. The research will be gathered via a focus group between 12pm and 2pm on March 29th at The Old Ground Hotel. Ennis Chamber will welcome Terry Fahey, Director National Revaluation Programme, with the Valuation Office, to Ennis on Tuesday October 11, to Temple Gate Hotel. Starting at 10am, the briefing will be followed by a Q&A session. Revaluation of all rateable properties in the Clare local authority rating area is underway and on 23rd September 2022 the Valuation Office issued proposed valuation certificates (PVCs) to ratepayers. New valuations arising from the revaluation of these local authorities will be finalised in September 2023 and become effective for rates purposes from January 2024. On Thursday March 19, Ennis Chamber will host a lunch to mark Gwen Culligan’s very successful tenure as President, Ennis Chamber, a year in which she focused on improved governance, and was a firm supporter of change. Guest speaker is Professor Terry Stevens, one of the most acclaimed international experts in the field of destination development. Prof. Stevens is working in partnership with locally based tourism consultants Repucon, tasked with the creation and delivery of a Niche Destination Plan for Ennis. Ennis Chamber hosts Garda Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) to discuss the online scam known as invoice redirect fraud that has cost Irish companies thousands of euro in recent months, as criminal gangs continue to target businesses. Clare Gardaí have arranged for GNECB to make a presentation to highlight the problem directly to business audiences in Co. Clare. The Bureau’s presentation will focus on alerting business owners and their accounts staff to the workings of this scam to help them identify when they are being targeted before it is too late.
