Repucon to deliver Niche Destination plan for Ennis

Promote Ennis, a partnership between Ennis Chamber and Ennis Municipal District, has engaged Repucon Consulting & Stevens Associates, to deliver a Niche Destination Plan to put Ennis firmly on the tourism map.

The project is funded through the LEADER programme with matched funding from Promote Ennis.

Repucon, an established tourism destination consultancy is headquartered in Ennis and is led by Mark O’Connell who will work with Professor Terry Stevens of Stevens & Associates, to develop a niche tourism plan for Ennis.

According to Mark O’Connell, “Ennis is only scratching the surface of its tourism potential, and more must be done to develop the town.

A fifth of all hotel and B&B accommodation in Clare is in Ennis. However, businesses in the town take in just 11% of Clare’s tourism revenue each year.

This stark figure was one of a number that has led Promote Ennis,, to seek out ways to promote the town to both domestic and international visitors.

On Wednesday December 11, a consultancy led ‘visioning session’ took place at Temple Gate Hotel, with over thirty key stakeholders from the tourism sector in Ennis in attendance to kickstart the plan to promote Ennis as a stand-alone destination.

The brief from Promote Ennis sees the consultants asked to deliver tangible, costed ideas that can be aligned to existing or planned funding opportunities.  It will then be the responsibility of the Promote Ennis team to pursue the necessary funding.
