Prudent Control of Current Expenditure Vitally Important

Commenting on the release of Exchequer Returns today (04 April 2017), Ian Talbot, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland said, “The Irish economy continues to perform strongly in the first quarter of 2017 with VAT receipts notably strong. However, Government must monitor areas such as income tax and corporate tax, which while performing solidly, are falling behind target. Prudent control of  expenditure is vitally important in the coming months and Government should continue with caution in relation to increased spending.”

“In order to prepare our economy to address global economic uncertainties Government must prioritise investment in areas of the economy that can drive future growth, protect investment and lead to continued job creation.”
