Irish Water Certified Stewardship Training Programme

Irish Water Certified Stewardship Training Programme  – a Climate Action response to Climate Change for businesses  customers.

The Irish Water stewardship training programme will be run in partnership with Central Solutions and the Lean & Green Skillnet. The training will support Irish Water’s business customers with training on how to lower water consumption and reduce operating costs while protecting the environment.

As we all appreciate water is a critically important resource, fundamental to both homes and businesses. But it’s also a limited resource with water shortages becoming a global reality. The impacts of climate change abroad and more recently in Ireland with periods of drought etc is impacting on how we value and manage our water.

Water conservation and water stewardship is becoming as important as reducing our energy use and moving to more sustainable practices. Irish Water is working in partnership with businesses to safeguard our water supply now and into the future and has launched the ‘Irish Water Certified Water Stewardship Programme’ to provide water stewardship training for business customers.

The Water Stewardship Programme is one of three steps Irish Water has developed to support all types of businesses to move to sustainable water management. Businesses can take the first step by taking the Water Conservation Pledge and follow on with participation in the free Online Water Conservation Training,  on the road to becoming a Certified Water Steward.

Ennis Chamber will support the pledge and will encourage its members to follow its lead.   Ennis Chamber has developed a five-year strategy to focus on one SDG per year, aligned to the 5 Goals stipulated in the Chambers Ireland SDG Charter.

In this the first year of our SDG strategy Ennis Chamber will focus on Goal 13 – Climate Action.

CEO of Ennis Chamber, Margaret O’Brien commented, “This Irish Water Certified Stewardship Programme is a perfect fit for our Climate Action 2021 campaign, and as such we will be encouraging our members to sign the pledge and to participate fully in this programme.”
