This programme from Griffith College Limerick is designed to assist those engaged in the sector to improve their professional skills and qualifications and, as a result, enhance their career progression. In doing that it will help to further increase the standards within the sector, the quality of service to the consumer and the reputation of the country as a truly world-class tourist destination.
Bachelor of Arts in Bar Management
This BA in Bar Management aims to develop compliant, confident and effective bar managers who can work autonomously and manage all aspects of a bar trade while delivering an excellent consistent customer and staff experience.
The programme will provide learners with the range of integrated skills required to operate a compliant bar trade including:
The programme aims to develop independent expert learners who are purposeful & motivated, resourceful and knowledgeable, and strategic and goal-directed.
Graduates will be able to take senior positions as bar managers nationally and internationally in the licensed trade, hotels and other food and beverage retail outlets. These roles are becoming more available with the advent of the larger bar trade groupings.
Representatives from across the licensed trade have developed this programme to respond to the challenges the sector is facing due to the pandemic, to assist with the recovery and to help the sector thrive in the future.
It is vital for the sector’s recovery that it develops entrepreneurial bar managers who are creative and adaptive.

Duration
The programme is a three-year degree apprenticeship with one day a week in the classroom for 30 weeks per annum.
Award
This apprenticeship leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Bar Management.
