‘Spending Trends & Marketing Insights’ attracts large audience

There was a full house when Ennis Chamber hosted ‘Spending Trends & Marketign Insights; Tourism, Hospitality & Retail sectors,  sponsored by AIB, held at The Civic Room, Ennis on March 11th.

Said Diarmuid McMahon, President, Ennis Chamber “We welcomed the opportunity to partner with AIB to deliver  this very informative event.

“Tourism, hospitality and retail are three key sectors when it comes to contribution to the local economy across Clare. The number of delegates that remained in the room after the presentations finished, attested to the quality of the information imparted and the issues raised by speakers.”

Chaired by Tina O’Dwyer of The Tourism Space, the line-up of speakers included; David McCarthy, Head of Hospitality and Tourism, AIB, Niall O’Callaghan, MD of Shannon Heritage, Michael Vaughan of Vaughan Lodge and former President of Irish Hotels Federation, David Fitzsimmons, CEO Retail Excellence and Jean McCabe owner of Willow, winner of Retail Excellence National Store of the Year.

Margaret O’Brien, director of strategy, Ennis Chamber commented, “There is a real appetite for up-to-date statistics and insights, especially stats that are drilled down and localised, like those presented by David McCarthy, head of tourism and hospitality, AIB.

His presentation included an overview of spending in Ennis on the weekend of Ennis Bookclub Festival that proved very informative, and underpinned the role events and festivals can play in driving additional footfall.”

Also in attendance, were four of the county’s leading artisan producers: Burren Smokehouse, Meere’s Pork Products, St.  Tola Goat Cheese and Wilde Irish Chocolates.
