Failte Ireland publish CSO overseas travel figures

The CSO have today issued overseas travel figures for the period covering July – September 2015.  This release contains details of visitor numbers (which include same day visits) to Ireland along with Irish trips abroad.  The main points in today’s release are as follows:

  • Total overseas trips to Ireland for the period January to September 2015 were up by 12% on the corresponding period in 2014.
  • British trips increased by 11% from January to September while North American visitors were up by 14%.
  • Trips to Ireland from Mainland European countries grew by 14% in the nine month period; with France up 10%, Germany up 12%, Italy up 26% and Spain up 18%.
  • Visitor numbers from all other long haul areas rose by 11% for the year to September. Visitors from Australia/New Zealand increased by 7%.
