Are you struggling to care for an older loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia at home? Home Instead Senior Care is offering a FREE ‘Confidence to Care’ – Dementia Care workshop in Ennis Library on Tues 15th Sept from 5:00-7:00 pm to educate and support family caregivers who are involved in the care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s & other Dementia. The ‘Confidence to Care’ approach focuses on the behaviours, care and dignity of the senior with dementia rather than the condition, physiology, treatment or cure. The vast majority of people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia are cared for in their home by family caregivers.
This workshop will help you:
- Learn care approaches when helping with personal care activities
- Understand behavioural symptoms, and care approaches to help minimise actions
- Learn and role play starting conversations for effective communication
- Recognise ways to prevent behavioural symptoms in the future
- Discover ways to care for yourself so that you can remain a successful family caregiver
