Clare Business Excellence Award Winners 2019

Scattery Island Tours ‘Overall Winners’ Clare Business Excellence Awards 2019

Treacy’ West County was the venue for the 10th successive Clare Business Excellence Awards, held on Thursday November 21.  With an audience close to 300,  the event MC, broadcaster and comedian Colm O’Regan revealed the category winners and announced Scattery Island Tours as this year’s overall winner.

Gwen Culligan, President Ennis Chamber, organisers of the event said, “It was fantastic to  see so many businesses represented in the room, it shows how important a benchmarking  event like this is to the Clare business community.”

Air of Celebration

She added, “Importantly, with the hard work done,  there was a palpable air of celebration, finalists and their staff were taking a break from the daily challenges of running a business to enjoy a fun night out and that’s very important too.”

She thanked main sponsor Clare County Council and all of the category sponsors for their support, saying, “Their support makes it possible to engage professional, independent judges, a factor that sets Clare Business Excellence Awards apart from other awards. I believe the continued secret of the success of these awards is that they provide a platform to keep Clare businesses on their toes, and the awards also help set a valuable benchmark.”

Mayor of Clare, Cllr. Cathal Crowe was delighted to see businesses from all over the county represented amongst the finalists, “It was great to see businesses of all sizes, from small enterprises to medium, to large indigenous businesses to multinationals all assembled as a finalists in one room. They were there from every corner of the county from Killaloe, Quin, Newmarket on Fergus,  Shannon, Ennis, Kilrush, Spanish Point, Ennistymon, Lahinch, Liscannor and  Doolin. It served to remind us of the breadth and variety of businesses that keep the economy in Clare ticking over.”

Winners on the night

Winners on the night included Hotel Doolin, winners of the new Best Green & Sustainable Practices award, Sweet n Green Café Ennis who won best Café/Bistro category, a remarkable achievement for a business in its first year.  TTM scooped the ‘Best Corporate & Social Responsibility Award,  while La Jolie Femme took home  the highly coveted ‘Customer Service Excellence Award’, but arguably the night belonged to Scattery Island Tours, winner of ‘Best Tourism Experience in Clare’ and in the judges opinion, the ’Overall Winner ‘ of Clare Business Excellence Awards 2019.
