There is a new national website www.foodwaste.ie which provides advice and information in relation to the Waste Management (Food Waste) Regulations 2009, the requirements of which are effective from 1st July and apply to nearly all businesses involved in any way with food -including on-site food canteen for employees.

There is a brief summary of the Food Waste Regulations in our Spring /Summer newsletter ‘Managing Waste in Business‘ which is available on our website.

Also of note is a new website encouraging the reduction of food waste at home, www.stopfoodwaste.ie. The website includes plenty of tips on avoiding food waste, as well as advice on home composting.
