PRESS RELEASE – Ennis Gold welcomes increase in Small Benefit Scheme and launches Shop Local Video

Ennis Gold Accepted

Ennis Chamber welcomes the news that the increase in the value of the Small Benefit Exemption Scheme yearly limit from €250 to €500 per employee has been implemented before Christmas.  The business representative organisation, who operate the Ennis Gold Gift Voucher scheme, lobbied Oireachtas members in Clare to back-date the measure instead of implementing it from January 1st, 2016 as was originally proposed in the Budget.

The Ennis Gold Gift Voucher Scheme ensures that money stays in the town thus benefiting small to medium, often family owned, businesses and sustaining local jobs.  Since its inception in November 2009, Ennis Gold has sold €500,000 worth of vouchers which is re-spent in over 80 businesses in the town.  The customers of Ennis Gold are local individuals as well a large proportion of businesses and corporate multi-nationals who purchase the vouchers as bonuses for their staff for Christmas.  As Ennis Gold has gathered momentum in recent years, it is estimated that €80,000 will be sold in 2015 alone.

To celebrate the increase and as part of Ennis Chamber’s Shop Local Campaign, Ennis Gold have produced a short promotional video highlighting the businesses participating in the initiative.  As businesses who are committed to supporting the town and sustaining jobs in the local economy, these enterprises cover a wide variety of shops and services across all sectors from retail to hospitality to professional services and trades.

The 1-minute promotional video will be launched on Thursday the 26th of November at 6.15pm SHARP in The Diamond Bar on O’Connell Street.  Businesses participating in the Ennis Gold Gift Voucher Scheme will be in attendance and any business interested in the Ennis Gold is welcome to attend along with members of the public.  The video will then be available to view through the Ennis Gold Facebook Page and the Ennis Chamber website.
